An experienced magazine and book editor, I provide a variety of editorial help.   Developmental Editing and Copyediting Whether you’re an overwhelmed publisher looking for a freelancer to help with the overload, or an individual looking for editorial direction from a personal editor, I can help. See About Rachel for more details on my experience as an editor. Note: I only offer developmental editing for non-fiction books. I offer copyediting services, however, for any piece of writing, from novels to magazine articles to how-to books. Anything.   Self-publishing? Or writing your first book? Then you especially need a professional set of editorial eyes to look over your newborn idea or almost-ready-for-print book. Still brewing the idea? I love helping writers get their new book ideas into saleable form.  Sometimes, you’ve found a publisher for your tome (congratulations!), but you’re looking for someone to offer guidance besides the editor (who you’re terrified of looking like a fool in front of) at your new publishing house. Having experience on both sides of that fence, I can help you.   Academic Editing Besides editing books, articles, essays, and short stories, I also offer academic editing services for college students, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Nothing is more frustrating than working hours and hours on a research paper, and being graded down for grammar or writing style. Or, worse, being misunderstood because what you wrote and what you meant were not the same. Unlike some college “editorial” services, I do not write papers. Not only is this cheating (and can get you kicked out of school), it’s not helpful to you. What I do is help you get your paper so it not only glows from all that great research you’ve done, but also reads clearly and correctly. A well-written paper can make the difference between a B or an A.
