Dream of Becoming a Writer?

I can help.

I've always enjoyed playing with words. I started writing poetry and stories in Middle School. I had a small blank book where I wrote silly and serious poems. I remember writing my first short story in that small, tan blank book, “The Man from Gookly”, a science fiction tale.

However, when I went to college, I didn't study English writing. Coming from a science orientated family, choosing to major in English wasn't what I'd call an "acceptable" choice. So I majored in mathematics, minored in psychology, and graduated with honors.

But when I graduated, I didn't find a job working with math. A short four months after graduation, I went back to my original love -- writing -- and had my first article published. I've been writing and publishing ever since. (You can read more about my writing and editing career here.)

What's my goal in telling you this story? You don't have to have majored in English to become a writer. You don't. All you need, in my opinion, is a desire to write and a love of reading. If you have a dream, along with the desire to work on your craft and to learn the market, you can become a published writer, too.

I've been working with aspiring writers for six years. If you want to start a writing career, I can help. Send me an email with what you're looking for in a writing coach or writing instructor, and we'll talk, see if we're a good fit for each other. If we are, I'd love to help you reach your writing aspirations.
